Lazy Past Week

Last week was a pretty lazy week. I love the summer but hate to admit this weather had gotten the best of me. My projects have gone to a stand still. The beginning of the week I finished a project and even started two. But that was it.

This weekend was busy for me but not with projects. So I at least ended the weekend in a self motivated ready to get back in gear mind set. At least that's what I'm telling myself.

The picture above is of the National Shrine of the Little Flower Church in Royal Oak, Michigan. My son and I attended mass today at this church before heading to a birthday party near by.

Now I'm heading off to bed with lots of crafty ideas running through my mind.

Fabric Flowers

This is my vacation week off of work. So far I have done a craft show, driven to Ohio for a funeral, visited relatives, visited the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, done laundry, cut out lots of fabric for three projects and sat around being lazy but thinking of what I could create next. I was also brave and left the house a few times times on errands and eating out with my son. They say its so very hot out with the heat index but I thought it felt wonderful outside. I'll take the hot summer days over the cold winter anytime.

One of my projects I cut fabric out for are a couple headbands for two sweet little girls. Today I made headbands for the first time as well as fabric flowers for the first time. The internet tutorials make it look easier that what it is. I'm glad I got them to turn out.

I was given a couple pics of some headbands and was asked if I could make them. The headbands were seen at a gift shop in a tourist town so I'm sure they cost a pretty penny. Not to toot my own horn but I think mine turned out way better than the ones in the gift shop. Mine have no raw edges, which makes no sense for a child headband.

Time to go figure out what we can munch on now. Had a late lunch/early dinner. I'm ready for dessert.

Painting

I made a few painting for that last show I was in and plan to make a few more for possibly my last show of the year at the end of August. I put way to much time and effort in creating things for shows and need to slow down at some point and start making things for me. Plus I need to work on that 365 day of creating challenge that I think will end up being a two year challenge. Which brings me to painting a skull. Even though it is finish I don't think it is but don't think anything else should be added at the same time.

Here is a Narwhal painting that now has a new home with my friend Danielle.

This last one here is a painting I did after looking at my etsy/blogger friend's blog. Yes Donna, you inspired me to paint a Sacred Heart. I hope it makes you smile.

As you can see I have no set painting style. I just paint in the style of the moment. We'll see what kind of paintings I come up with later.

Craft City

This past Saturday, July 16, 2011 was the first ever Craft City at the Buckham Alley Fest in downtown Flint, Mi.

It started off at 6pm and went on thru to midnight.

It was amazing to see all of the people that came out to see this. There was Craft City set up along the side of the Rutherford parking structure and two stages set up at booth ends of the alley for live bands. I really enjoyed listening to the live music.

This was an exciting night that I got to be part of. Met lots of nice people and enjoyed answering questions about what I had made.

Can't wait until this happens again next year.
