Second Attempt

Day 14 (#2): Syrup Skull

Here is my second "make something with your breakfast" only this one was made after I ate it. I like lots of syrup on my waffles and since this was a toaster waffle I naturally ate it with my hands. No utensils needed. This was made with the syrup drippings. The more and more I looked at my plate the more I saw a skull. The teeth where a bunch of drippings in a row that just needed to be elongated. The eye on the left was made a little larger and to balance this out I added the other eye and the jaw. There was a reason for the first sad attempt after all.

This was actually my breakfast midnight snack I got to play with. Can't wait for the next food project.

Day 14: Waffle & Syrup Skull

Make something out of your breakfast before you eat it. This is a sad attempt but funny at the same time. It was delicious.

Day 13: Skull Potato Print

Make a potato or sponge print. Here is my print.

Day 12: Skull Dollar

Make something using a dollar. I made an origami skull out of a dollar. This was fast. I was hoping to make a trip to the dollar store and pick out a dollar item to turn into a little piece of skull art, but just realized it's after 10pm. Where did the time go?

Day 11: Teeny Tiny Skull

Make something microscopic.

First I drew a skull with a fine point sharpie but it didn't turn out very small and the sharpie bled on the paper. Next I drew with pencil. It's more like a fast doodle. I placed a penny next to them to show their size.

Day 10: Tea Skull

Use tea bag or leaves to create something. Since I was having a cup of tea I made a real fast skull. I opened the tea bag up and tried using the wet grounds but it just made a mess and wouldn't spread around like I was hoping. Then I thought it looked boring so I added pink Stickles glitter glue to give it a sugar skull look.

Catching Up on Everything

So I have fallen a little behind on my daily crafting and need to catch up. I have a craft show coming up that I need to get ready for, Art From The Heart. I will be making Valentine's themed items to take along. So far I have some coffee cup cozies. Made a few that are sewn shut and have a few that will have a velcro closer, just need to sew on the velcro.

Had a special request for an apron with the color orange in it. Made a fabric run just to discover I didn't like any of the orange printed fabric at the near buy store. They had a lot of dark orange, I was looking for a happy orange. But I did come across some fabric at the last minute I think might work.

I will see what I can catch up on for my daily crafting. My theme for next month will be a Valentine's type of theme. So you see, I really do have to catch up. Maybe I'll still have some skulls incorporated in my future projects.

Day 9: Skull Winged Butterfly

This task was to create something camouflaged that disappears into the background. This is what I came with. The more I look at it the more I think I may have drawn a moth. Thinking maybe I did this task wrong. Should have actually drawn a background environment that had an image of a skull that blends into the background.

Day 8: Skull by Left Hand

Today's project was to work with my non-dominate hand with a medium I'm comfortable with. I used a sharpie since I have them handy and used my left hand since I am right handed. This wasn't as hard to do as I thought it would be. Just had to concentrate more about the movement when drawing. The hardest part was coloring in the eyes and the nose, trying to stay in the lines. My signature was even done with my left hand.

Day 7: Skull Watercolor

I skipped the next project in the book and went on with the next to create using water as the main medium. I decided to do a watercolor of a skull. It's been so long since I've done any type of painting. I think my skull turned out well but he does seem a little spooky.

I believe the next project in the book may be skipped and done on Saturday as my Day 13, which is to make something out of your breakfast before you eat it.

Day 6: Elvis Sugar Skull Print

Day 6: Elvis Sugar Skull Print
Make a stencil and use it. I made a stencil using a piece of shrink plastic and tracing my Elvis sugar skull shrink art drawing. Cutting this out was harder than I thought it would be. I either didn't hold this down good enough while painting or used to much paint. Or maybe the cut outs where to close together for using paint with it. This was placed on one of my t-shirts.

Day 5: Bread & Jelly Skull

Day 5: Bread & Jelly Skull
Make something out of fruit or vegetable. So I used strawberry jelly to create a skull on a piece of bread. The ending results was yummy.

Day 4: Button/Fabric Necklace

Day 4: Button/Fabric Necklace
Make something out of something you collect. Well I have lots of fabric and old buttons that I seem to collect. The fabric pieces here are the left over cut off pieces from some of the cotton bags I have made. Just couldn't throw them out and finally got to use a few. The buttons I just collect whenever I see some I like, plus I had received a bunch of them from my grandmother. She knew I would put them to good use someday. Now whenever I wear this I can also think of my grandmother.

My Daily Creating: Day 1,2,&3

I decided to just use this blog to post my daily creating. That way I'm not going back and forth as much. I think the other blog will be for posting my son's creations. So take a look below at my day 1, 2 & 3. You know it's been a long time since I've done any drawing or anything else that isn't sewing or crocheting, like ten years, so some of my creating might look childish. Time to get back into the swing of things and there is no better time than now.

About the theme. I'm still not sure. I might change each month's theme. I keep changing my mind about this. Who knows what you'll see next. Until then...keep creating...

Daily Creating

Day 1:
Create something that fits in the palm of your hand. I crochet a skull and it only took four tries to get the shape right. Since this was a fast project I also made Pinky, a Pacman ghost, and added pin backings to both of these.

Day 2: Purple Cow
One of my favorite animals is a cow. I drew a cow since I have never ever drew a cow before. Maybe you can see that this cow has a skull spot on him.

Day 3: Eye Heart Skulls
(I skipped the books day 3 because it is way to cold out to go for a walk)
I made something out of paper without using glue, scissors or a pencil. I was making a flower but it just wouldn't turn out right, so instead I made myself a greeting card. My torn out shapes I decided to sew them on with the sewing machine. Hope this isn't cheating. This is my first time using my sewing machine for paper crafts and I think I'll have to try this more often.

Not Flowing Together

Today is my day 2 of creating for a year and so far my theme doesn't flow together, but I know it's only day 2. We bought the book we're following the night before our day 1 of this project. So not much thought on my part really. Just dove right into it.

Now to start thinking Valentine's for the February art and craft show. Bought some Valentine's fabric for a few aprons. Also bought some batting to try a make coffee cup sleeves. If the sleeves don't turn out I'll use the batting later to make pot holders.

365 Days of Creating

Started a new blog with my son Jacob. We purchased the book A DAILY CREATIVITY JOURNAL 365 by Noah Scalin. We will be going along with the book ideas but not necessarily in order. This will be interesting and a challenge creating something every single day for a whole year. We think everyone should give this a try. Sounds fun

Here is what the book looks like so you know what to look for :)

We look forward to a fun creating year!

Janurary 2011 Kitchen Theme Bottlecap Magnets

Also a few Valentine themed ones.

Spice Expo Results

Well...the spice expo didn't turn out like I was hoping, sold two shrink art necklaces only.

That's okay because I had good company along with me. Here are some pics of my little set up.

I believe the very cold winter day and the bad roads kept the people away. What can you do? Not sure if I will be going back tomorrow. I do and I don't. Not really bummed out about it. Think I'm in a daze after all my late night sewing/crafting to really have an opinion, in other words it is no big deal. On the bright side, my sister sold eight items of mine that I had on my etsy store to someone we know who will be taking them as gifts to friends of hers in Mexico. I will have aprons and bags traveling out of the country. So that is pretty darn cool.

On another note...I can't wait for the special February Art From The Heart Art & Craft Show that yours truly will be a vendor in. Now I can start planning for this. It's a special Valentines show they plan on having during the downtown Flint Art Walk. I will have Valentines on the mind. Planning on some Valentine themed bottle cap magnets, bags, cards, shrink art necklaces and of course aprons. Plus whatever else I might think of making.

By the way Valentine's Day is my favorite holiday of the year :)

Janurary Show

Again I have been busy with lots of things and about a week ago I was accepted to be a vendor in the Spice Up Your Life Expo in Frankenmuth, Mi. Last week more aprons were made and on Sunday lined cotton bags were made. Yesterday, Monday, started on some crochet dish cloths. Hate to say it but the dish cloths are boring to make and will only have a very few to sell. I'm using the Sugar n' Cream yarn that I had bought in these nice bright colors (had day of dead in mind when I was shopping). Trying to use supplies already on hand without making any addition purchases. So far it is working, didn't realize how much extra fabric I had on hand.

Today not much will get done due to my 1-close work shift. But trying to plan the rest of the week so my crafting time is not wasted. The Show is this weekend, Jan 15 &16. I had to be a vendor with a kitchen type theme. Just found out a couple days ago this is actually a spice expo, so we'll see how this show goes. The cotton bags will be grocery/totes to carry your spices home.
